Passed in the 2017 legislative session, House Enrolled Act 1003 created the ILEARN assessment as a replacement for ISTEP+. One key improvement to the updated assessment is the computer adaptive functionality of ILEARN. As a computer adaptive test, students will receive challenge leveled questions that are adjusted and based upon the individual student’s responses and demonstrated skill-level during the assessment event. This adaptive design allows for assessments to better measure each student’s true level of mastery and identify where additional instruction is necessary.
