NWEA MAP Growth is a computer adaptive test that our Kindergarten through 8th grade students have taken for 10+ years. In 2017-18 our 9th and 10th grade students began taking MAPs, also. The test is given two to three times per school year (Fall, Winter & Spring). The results provide teachers with information to help them deliver appropriate content for each student and determine each student’s academic growth over time.

Unlike state standardized tests that measure students' mastery of grade level standards, MAPs, a computer adaptive test, adjusts to each student’s learning level, providing a unique set of test questions based on the student's responses to previous questions. As the student responds to questions, the test responds to the student, adjusting up or down in difficulty. It provides a much more accurate picture of the level at which a student is performing.

MAP Growth K-2 focuses on the developmental needs of our youngest students, including audio support. It identifies a student's starting point when entering kindergarten and tracks growth overtime. 

MAP Growth measures what our 3rd-10th grade students know and informs what they are ready to learn next. By dynamically adjusting to each student’s performance, MAP Growth creates a personalized assessment experience that accurately measures performance—whether a student performs on, above, or below grade level.
